Honoring AAPI Leaders
The fourth annual OCA Las Vegas 88 Fund honored several individuals for their leadership and guidance in their industry. This year's ICON awards honors several individuals who have helped emphasize Asian and Pacific Islanders into public service.
The two honorees of the OCA Las Vegas 88 ICON Award are:
Councilwoman Gerri Schroder
As Councilwoman, Schroder represents the city on the Southern Nevada Regional Planning Coalition, Workforce Connections Local Elected Officials Consortium and the Clark County School District Oversight Committee on School Facilities. She serves as the council representative on the City of Henderson Cultural Arts and Tourism Commission and is a member of the Henderson Development Association and the Henderson Redevelopment Agency. She also serves on the Henderson Community Foundation Chairman's Council. Councilwoman Schroder previously served on the Governor's Workforce Investment Board Manufacturing Sector Council and the Mining and Materials Sector Council. Schroder has been active in the community for several years serving in a variety of roles to support the community.
Dr. Zia Khan is a cardiologist in Las Vegas, Nevada and is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including Mountain View Hospital and Southern Hills Hospital and Medical Center. He has been an active supporter of motivating the community into public service.
This year's Pat Albert award goes towards Dr. Dean Tsai who has helped many students in the OCA Las Vegas Mentorship program pursuing a degree in the medical field.
