Program Benefits
Books are a means to further our understanding of a range of human experiences and relationships. Immersing ourselves in diverse narratives helps us further contextualize our own and others’ culture and history. AANHPI literature preserves the accomplishments and traditions of its wide array of communities—our book club aims to honor their heritage and allow members to reflect on connections to the books we read. Members will also have the opportunity to bond with fellow AANHPI individuals and discuss the AANHPI experience within our community.
Optional Community Service Opportunity
To coincide with OCA Las Vegas’ mission of serving the community, members are invited to participate in group community service opportunities with Spread The Word Nevada (STWN). Throughout the season, members will have multiple chances to participate in STWN’s Book Preps and Family Literacy Program, cleaning books that will be distributed to low-income schools and reading to families.
CLUB ELIGIBILITY
- Must be an OCA member, YLC member, or a past/current mentee of the OCA Mentorship Program.
- Must currently reside in Las Vegas or neighboring communities (to attend in-person meetings).
