History

In 2018, OCA Las Vegas–in partnership with the Asian Community Development Council (ACDC)–created the first-ever Las Vegas Asian Night Market, inspired by well-known similar events like the Night Markets in California. The event aimed to accomplish two primary goals:

1) To bring the greater community together.

2) Elevate AAPI and AAPI fusion businesses in the local community.

This event not only created support among AAPIs, but it also fostered allyship with many non-AAPI community members as well. Those in attendance were able to try food from different Asian cultures, learn about OCA’s mission and initiatives, and experience cultural performances. Before we created the Asian Night Market, there weren’t any large events with general AAPI focus like this. After our 2022 event, we began seeing new more night market-inspired events popping up in the city.

Overall, we are proud to play a significant role in exposing the greater community to Asian culture and pave the way for these types of events in Las Vegas.
