As the AAPI population grows in Nevada, it’s important that elected officials address issues important to our communities, but if AAPIs aren’t encouraging others to vote or being engaged in the electoral process – our needs and voices can be ignored, forgotten, or sidelined.

Here are some commonly asked questions to prepare for you, your friends, and family members for the upcoming election.

Where can I register to vote?

The easiest way to register is to go to the Nevada Secretary of State website.

Can I change my party affiliation?

Yes, you can update your voter registration on the Nevada Secretary of State website.

Does my vote matter?

Yes! Your vote not only impacts the federal government but state/local elected offices as well.

English is not my first language. Is there any help?

Yes, you can call APIA Vote and Asians American Advancing Justice (AAJC) at 1-888-API-VOTE (1-88-274-8683) and someone can help assist in Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Urdu, Hindi, Bengali/Bangala, and Panjabi.

When is the registration deadline to vote for the General Election?

Same-day voter registration is available if you are unable to register online. If you're not registered to vote, check if you're eligible here.

I’m 17 by the time of the General Election. Am I eligible to vote?

No, but you can preregister to vote which will allow you to vote when you turn 18. Preregister to vote by going to www.RegisterToVote.NV.gov

Am I able to register to vote on the same day as the election?
