Melany Carmenaty-Martinez is a junior at Advanced Technologies Academy and a proud member of OCA Las Vegas’s 2024 Mentorship Program cohort. Born in Cuba, she moved to Las Vegas at the age of eight and has called the city home for the past eight years. Growing up in a diverse community has shaped her passion for civic engagement, leadership, and education equity. She currently serves as the Nevada Youth Legislator for District 7, where she advocates for youth voices in policymaking and works to improve educational access across the state. Melany also leads a youth-driven nonprofit chapter focused on law and policy, giving students a platform to explore legal issues and become more civically involved. Apart from this, Melany loves watching shows, her favorite being Modern Family. She also loves korean corn dogs and strawberry lemonade.
